Founder, Yellow Panda
Amanda Delosa is the founder of Yellow Panda, a PR agency helping brands get seen, heard and remembered, and the host of the podcast Next Season (NXT SZN). She holds a double degree in journalism and public relations and spent six or seven years in politics as a communications advisor, including working one of the most contested seats of the 2013 federal election. She left with three months of mortgage repayments saved, replaced her income in year one, then doubled revenue year on year with her biggest year on record during COVID.
Amanda's method: listen to a few podcasts you admire and write down the questions that come up every time (your backstory, a time you thought you'd lose everything, your proudest achievement). Workshop punchy, succinct answers with anecdotes before you pitch anyone. Then chase one interview and treat it as the audition that gets you on other shows. She calls it a concertina effect, and it started for her more than ten years ago as a guest.
From Amanda Delosa: PR and personal brand without a budget →Amanda went on Mark Boris's show Mentored during COVID. Listeners who sat through an hour of her talking arrived already sold, doing ten minute discovery calls and paying large invoices to start a strategy. She estimates that single interview generated roughly $500,000 in revenue. That is why she calls long-form the bingeable content: an hour builds trust that a reel cannot.
From Amanda Delosa: PR and personal brand without a budget →Any podcast interview you do can be snipped into micro content. Amanda says some founders get about three months of posts from one recording. So go after the big pinnacle piece first and break it down, rather than trying to invent fresh short-form ideas from scratch every week.
From Amanda Delosa: PR and personal brand without a budget →Amanda says the two most common pitches she gets asked to make are "I've won an award" and "I've written a book", and media do not care. What lands is real stories of struggle and triumph, lessons taught through failure, or a genuinely unusual human interest angle. Read the last two or three articles from the publication you want, identify the themes, and pitch into those.
